A community resource helping survivors of domestic violence turn a house into a home.

About Us

Our Mission

Supporting Health Escapes (SHE Shed) exists to ensure that survivors of domestic abuse can leave successfully — the first time.

By providing essential household items to rebuild their lives, we eliminate the barriers that force victims to return.

No one should have to escape 7 times to find freedom.

One attempt should be enough.

Our Vision

We envision a community where every survivor has access to the basic necessities needed to rebuild their life, regain independence, and move forward with hope.

Our Story

SHE Shed was founded from a simple but powerful realization: leaving an abusive situation is only the first step.

It takes an average of 7 attempts to leave for good.

Many survivors leave most, if not all, of their belonging behind.

While housing programs can help secure a safe place to live, families are often left without the furniture, kitchen supplies, bedding, cleaning products, and household essentials needed to create a stable home environment.

Furthermore, they are often starting over with little to no financial resources.

SHE Shed was created to help fill this gap.

Through partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and community members, we collect and distribute essential household items to individuals and families who are rebuilding after domestic violence.

Our goal is not simply to provide things—it is to provide dignity, comfort, hope, and support during a difficult transition.

How it Works…

An individual, social worker, advocate, case manager, shelter representative, or approved community partner submits a referral.

Step 1: Referral

Step 2: Review

Our team reviews the referral and determines eligibility based on available resources and current inventory.

Step 3: Resource Match

We work to match donated household items and necessities with the needs identified in the referral.

Step 4: New Beginning

We coordinate with the recipient to distribute their items and help make their new house a home.

SHE Shed serves individuals and families who:

  • Are survivors of domestic violence

  • Have secured or are securing safe housing

  • Have been referred through an approved partner agency

  • Demonstrate a need for household essentials

Service availability may vary based on funding, donations, and inventory.
